The Happiest Place on Earth!

We survived Disneyland! It was a blast. Jim, Jeni, Jared, Myles, and I left Friday afternoon for California. We got to Steve and Jackie's house around 7 pm to eat a delicious garlic chicken dinner Jackie had prepared. Then after a short visit, we were off to bed to get a good night's sleep for our early morning drive to Disneyland. Saturday morning, we were up and on our way, stopping for donuts and juice, we got to Disneyland as soon as they opened. Good idea. It wasn't bad at all, we got on Pirates of the Carribean and Thunder Mountain with no waiting. At that point, it was warming up and our sweaters were coming off. I think it got to be about 80 degrees or so, which was just perfect! The crowds just kept piling in, so the Fastpass tickets became necessary... we couldn't miss Space Mountain, which we made Jim and Jeni ride too... (I don't think they enjoyed it as much as us "kids!") then to Honey I Shrunk the Audience. The loud volume was too much for Myles, so I covered his ears through the show. I did manage to get a cute snapshot of him wearing the 3D goggles though! Next was Toon Town, where on the way Myles thuroughly enjoyed the courosel. He repeatedly pet our horse, and when he saw himself in the mirrors, he laughed forcefully, as he waved at himself! It was pretty cute! A Roger Rabbit car ride was fun, which Myles sat so low he could hardly see anything, but still had fun. Splash Mountain is an all-time favorite, but I don't remember ever getting that wet! The Haunted Mansion was a time-taker, standing in line for about an hour was hardly worth the wait, but then at the end of our day, after the gigantic corndogs, the parades, and the random characters posing for pictures, on the way out, we did the Enchanted Tiki Room. Myles was so fascintated and pointed at all the big singing birds, the monkeys, and he danced to all the music the whole time. It was ADORABLE! We have such an amazing little boy, so full of life and personality and not afraid to be himself when he's having a good time. Why didn't we all dance in the Tiki Room? We were having a good time, so why not? Next time I will. I love you sweet Myles!

One Smart Kid!

Yesterday, Myles brought me one of his rubber boots, saying "boot! boot!" so I put the one boot on his foot, then he repeated it... bringing me the other one as well. After both of his boots were on, he came back up to me, carrying his coat, saying "coat! coat!" So I went along with it, put his coat on him, zipped it up and put his hood up. Myles then walked over to the front door, trying to reach the door knob. What a smart little boy! This kind of stuff just amazes me!

I can't believe I have been out of work for over 3 months now... Being at home with Myles is so great. He learns something new every day and I thank the Lord that I get to be the one teaching him this stuff! About 2 weeks ago, he finally decided that after knowing how to walk for about a month, but preferring to crawl, he left crawling in the dust! He's on 2 feet everywhere now and just about running! Every day, he adds a new word or sign to his vocabulary... the newest: When he's dirtied his diaper, I say, "Myles are you stinky stinky?" and he replies back by waving his hand back and forth in front of his nose. No worries, I am actually teaching him worth-while stuff too!... "Book, book, book!" he rambles as he trots back and forth from me to the bookshelf to find one of the 5 favorites he has... so see!

He and Natalie Morton, the 2 1/2 year old I watch get along better and better everyday. We went to playgroup last Wednesday, which is great for the kids to socialize and play with different toys. With 10 to 15 exciting new faces to play with, the two of them were over playing "Kitchen" in the corner together, alone. Go figure! They love each other like siblings... we have a good days and then some are great!

Myles' first 4th of July!

(left 2007) (below 2008) Myles had a great time watching the parade for the first time. Everytime a dog passed, his little finger shot out, pointing and yelling, "dog! dog! dog!" Josh and Stacey were here for the weekend and Stacey being 8 months pregnant, reminded me so much of this time last year for me!

In the Beginning...

Well, here it is, our BLOG! How fun. Hopefully I can keep family and friends up-to-date with our lives, all the way up here on San Juan Island. With a baby who is almost 10 months old, he is constantly doing something new that just cracks us up and I will just have to share it with everyone! Enjoy!
